Liverpool have just reached the final of the Europa League, after beating Villarreal by three goals

We’ve only gone and done it. It looked to be an uphill task after conceding a late goal in the first leg, however Liverpool produced the goods and came away with a reassuring win.

Daniel Sturridge returned to the starting line-up, and rewarded Jurgen Klopp’s selection by scoring the red’s second goal. He also played a big part in the first goal, which was turned in by Villarreal’s Soriano Llido.

The third and final goal scored by Liverpool sealed the tie, and was finished by Adam Lallana. Almost every part of the pitch was phenomenal, and Liverpool certainly deserved to progress, with their attack stealing the show.

The quick return of Emre Can was miraculous, with the beast playing the full 93 minutes despite only returning to training this week. He added a secure defensive edge to our midfield, and was influential in almost all of Liverpool’s play.

The defensive partnership of Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure worked effectively, with Kolo’s experience and Dejan’s physicality helping keep out any Villarreal threat.

From here, its onward and upwards with nothing but promise. We have the opportunity to go out and earn a spot in the Champions League, and with Jurgen Klopp I believe we can achieve that goal.

Playing two-time winners, Sevilla will be tough, but the way Liverpool performed today shows that anything is possible. We’ve beaten Dortmund, and now Villarreal, so why not Sevilla?

Today’s game fell at the opposite end of the spectrum in comparison to the weekends horrific display against Swansea, which suggests that perhaps Liverpool just don’t really bother with the Premier League now that our season is pretty much over.

Here’s Rush the Kop’s player ratings following Liverpool’s incredible win against Villarreal.
