Here’s Rush the Kop’s Liverpool players of the season for 2015/16

I think it’s pretty safe to say that our season has been enlightening and entertaining to say the least – mainly thanks to the arrival of Jurgen Klopp.

We started out under Brendan Rodgers, who struggled to maintain the standards that allowed us the reach second place in the 2013/14 season. We picked up 12 points from 8 Premier League games under our former manager, who was given the sack after drawing the Merseyside Derby on the 4th of October. At this stage, Liverpool sat in 10th with a negative two goal-difference.

Now I respect Brendan Rodgers as a manager and a person, because he did some outstanding things for our club. He got us second place, which was a huge push and saw us return (not so triumphantly) to the Champions League, and even after being fired he remained respectful by showing up to the Hillsborough memorial. He just reached his end at such a big club, and I wish him all the best wherever he ends up – so long as he doesn’t try to poach Joe Allen.

Jurgen Klopp took the reins at Liverpool on the 17th of October, against a strong Tottenham side that challenged for the title. Even in his first game his pressing mentality surfaced, and we managed to keep the scores level. From there, our injury-hit season has been nothing short of interesting. We’ve seen improvements from all the players, and pure passion from everyone involved in our side.

There’s no denying that we’ve transformed from doubters to believers, and 2 finals (maybe even a trophy next week) in his first 7 months is a spectacular feat from a much loved manager. I think I speak for all the fans when I say we’re confident that Jurgen Klopp can help us achieve wonderful things.

But which players have really driven the side this season? Well, Rush the Kop are here to bring you our ‘Players of the season’ in a variety of different categories and roles, finishing off with the player we think has really excelled.
