Most improved player of the season – Dejan Lovren

This was a tougher decision than I expected, and I’m not sure if everyone will agree that he is the most improved, although we can all agree that his development has been outstanding.

Now the top centre-back under Jurgen Klopp, Dejan Lovren has had a dramatic change of ways from missing the penalty that knocked us out of the Europa League, to scoring the goal that puts us into the semi-finals.

He’s stopped with all the messing around and trying to dribble at the back, and since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival he’s grown into a figure of great admiration from the fans. He keeps it to the basics and performs effectively, serving as our most reliable and impressive defender this season.

His transformation from laughing stock to legend has been one that shocked us all, after we basically ruled him out for his horrific displays last season and even against West Ham in the 3-0 defeat early this season.

Now, Dejan Lovren boasts an impressive 78.35% of headers won statistic in the Premier League, alongside a solid 151 clearances.

For me, Dejan Lovren’s improvements have been the most important given our shaky situation at the back and all our defensive troubles, which Lovren has bee crucial in resolving.

Honourable mentions – Emre Can for his growing importance in  the midfield, Divock Origi for finding his goal-scoring touch and Roberto Firmino for his impressive 2015/16 improvements.
