Young player of the season (under 23) – Emre Can

The young player of the season for me has been Emre Can, rising to become probably the most influential deep midfielder in our side. At just 22, Emre shows nothing but class and promise.

His defensive cover has been brilliant all season, and he provides added security where we need it most. His strong, brave tackles have helped prevent a numerous amount of chances against us, and for that he’s become one of our most important players when against strong offensive teams.

The best thing about Emre just happens to be his contributions going forward. He provides a reliable source of possession, and works the ball around well. His link-up play and clever passing also allows him to create chances, while his distance shooting can threaten keepers if needed.

The good old saying stands, that if anyone can, Emre Can.

Honourable Mentions – Philippe Coutinho for his class and finishing and Divock Origi for his Europa League heroics.
