Milner will grab the captain’s arm band in the final with Henderson’s injury woes. To get a player like him on a free transfer has been immense business for Liverpool.

Boring James Milner is still 100% that and it’s brilliant. He’s perpetually working so hard and getting close to things he should never have a chance at… then misses it by just enough to give you hope. Or when he slide-crosses the ball semi-frequently because his touch is slightly too far ahead of him to cross beautifully like a normal player but it still reaches its destination.

I love that.
