Final 2015-16 Liverpool squad rankings

13. Lucas Leiva
The Lucas Leiva transfer mill will be blowing again this summer as his future is considered. Most of his appearances once the calendar turned to 2016 came at center back, not his preferred central midfield role.
All in all, Lucas made 37 appearances and started the season stronger than he ended it, an anomaly to most others on the roster.
For what it’s worth, according to WhoScored, he performed better at central defense than he did in the midfield. In four starts tracked by the website at central defense, he got an average rating of 7.5 as opposed to six at defensive midfield where he got an average rating of 7.3. Maybe he’ll be around to help fill in for Mamadou Sakho and be at the bottom of the defensive midfield rotation.
