Final 2015-16 Liverpool squad rankings
By Tom Bogert
8. Dejan Lovren
Before I lose my credibility for having Lovren at 8th, remember what he was in the beginning of the season. Just an extension of his horrific 2014-15. He was awful against West Ham and then he got hurt.
When he came back, he was alright. Not so great, but not so catastrophic, which was an improvement. Pushing into 2016 and the end of the season, he was absolutely immense to this club and that’s where he looks to fit in next season.
Lovren made 39 appearances for Liverpool this season, which is 39 more than most fans wanted after last season. Credit to Rodgers for sticking with him and credit to Lovren for fighting through a bad situation.
The Croatian is even getting some shouts to be in the captaincy argument. He won’t get it, but that argument would be ludicrous last season. Absolutely ludicrous.
