Final 2015-16 Liverpool squad rankings
By Tom Bogert
5. Mamadou Sakho
Remember him? Me neither.
Oh yeah, before being exiled like Luis Suarez was after his biting incident at the World Cup and like old Kings who were forced to abdicate their thrones in Medieval Times, Sakho ranged from pretty good to incredulously good back to pretty good again. For a club who has had Skrtel in the team for nearly a decade, that stat line seems the closest thing to perfect since Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia.
Sakho made 21 starts in the Premier League in 2015-16 as well as registering nine starts in the Europa League, a key member of the club’s run to the final before he was banned for failing a drug test. Had he been available for selection, and if his season didn’t end so sour, he could have been pushing top three for Liverpool.
