Final 2015-16 Liverpool squad rankings

24. Brad Smith
Brad Smith handed in a Man of the Match performance against Sion in his only Europa League appearance, a game that Liverpool drew 0-0 on a frozen pitch in Switzerland, his first start of the season. That game accentuated Smith’s strengths: he wasn’t asked to defend one on ones with a tricky winger pressuring him all day. He was allowed to move forward with regular frequency.
The Australian’s season started great, but unfortunately it ended with a sour taste, a poor performance and sending off against Swansea City in his penultimate appearance of the season. He made one more start, against West Brom, on the last day of the season, and was average.
The fact that Smith even played at all this season for Liverpool in the first team is good enough. He wasn’t with the club after last summer, then returned when Klopp was put in charge. Surprisingly he didn’t register an assist, considering his crossing ability.
Will he be around next season? Who knows, remains to be seen if he can provide sufficient competition and cover for Alberto Moreno.
