Liverpool expansion list: If Reds could only keep 11, who would they be?
By Tom Bogert
11. Jordan Henderson
This potentially comes down to a personal elevated valuation of the captain, admittedly.
Henderson didn’t have a good 2015-16, admittedly.
The captain was injured and never found his form between injuries and knocks. But he’s got the quality in there, and he’s still just 25 (turning 26 in June) so he’s about to hit his physical prime, and he’s improved every year until this one, that can be excused by injuries.
The Englishman has probably been surpassed by Can right now, and next season could be forced to compete with Milner for some games, but Henderson is still an integral vertebrae in Liverpool’s spine and is someone the club needs to keep.
