Liverpool expansion list: If Reds could only keep 11, who would they be?
By Tom Bogert
6. Daniel Sturridge
Despite his injury issues, despite the rubbish floating in the air about his future this season, Liverpool should not and can not allow Sturridge to leave. He’s too good, and they’ve suffered through two years of his injury hell.
Imagine if they moved him on and he scored 25 goals next season for another club? That’s like being one semester away from graduation and being like ‘nah’.
Sturridge made just 11 Premier League starts this season, he scored 8 goals. That’s a microcosm of Sturridge. When he’s there, he’s great. He’s just not always there.
The striker is just two seasons removed from a 21 goal and 7 assist season next to Suarez in 2013-14, and shows that quality regularly. Case in point the goal in the Europa League final.
