11. Simon Mignolet
(Before we begin, I will never stop using pictures of Mignolet looking disappointed. There’s something magnetic about it that draws me in and I simply cannot stop.)
A microcosm of Liverpool’s season, the last two players on the list of the club’s “stars” playing* in the 2016 Euros are goalies.
*Playing is a relative term for both goalkeepers. I’m counting warmups, here.
Remember that one time that Mignolet threw a fit because Thibaut Courtois started ahead of him like two years ago? Then Belgium just kind of laughed at him and continued to play Courtois ahead of him because, you know, the Chelsea keeper is simply and unequivocally better? Rad times.
Mignolet’s line of thinking was less tenable than a medieval castle without a wall nor bows and arrows. At least he’ll have a beautiful front row seat to a world class team.
