Winner: Liverpool’s hope of signing Mario Gotze

Can you see it? It’s Mario Gotze’s value literally deteriorating in front of our eyes.

The makeshift striker for Germany, who have an excess of midfielders but a shortage of strikers similar to Spain, tossed Gotze up top for long periods of time in their first two matches and haven’t been rewarded for it. He’s performed like how Joachim Low’s fingers smell.

In two matches, he’s completed just two take-ons and has had four fruitless attempts at goal.

At this rate, maybe he’ll continue to long for a time in which he had a familiar face on his sideline, a man who helped cultivate his talents, a man who is always there for him.

Come home, Mario. Come to Jurgen. Come to Liverpool.
