Donald Mackinlay

Appearances – 434

Games as captain – 262

Goals – 35

I think Donald Mackinlay is before most of our times. A versatile player who made his debut at 19 on the 20th of April, 1910, Mackinlay served Liverpool for two decades. He’s even quoted at saying “If I had 20 years to go again, I would go back to them,”.

Mackinlay was sole captain for 7 years, and his record of games wearing the armband is impressive alone. Obviously, being a very old player, there’s not exactly much to find on Mackinlay, other than he managed to bring two League championships to Liverpool.

This man is deservingly a member of Liverpool football club’s hall of fame.
