9. Steven Caulker /// 4 appearances /// 0 goals /// 1 useless loanee

Genuinely, what is there to say? This slide should just be blank to match his contributions to Liverpool.

Actually, that last sentence was unnecessarily churlish. There’s no reason to be overly hostile to a man who didn’t exactly have a negative impact on the club, he was just anonymous.

The poor guy, though. He had a loan move cut early from Southampton to leave for Liverpool to have a better chance at something that closer represented being a professional footballer by actually, you know, playing competitive football.

When he joined in January amid an injury crisis, he was happy. It was another chance and it was coming at a club with such stature. He joked about making his debut as an emergency striker, times were good.

But he’d only make three more appearances, just one start, for the rest of the season and his loan would just disintegrate. He left Liverpool and not a person noticed.

Remember that one time he was “England’s future center back”? Yeah, me neither.
