Liverpool predicted XI vs Fleetwood: Preseason match #2
By Tom Bogert
Liverpool head into their second preseason match of the season beginning to gather momentum for the season that starts in a month.
Preseason matches are frivolous. Who cares how they preform, who they play against. It’s all about getting fitness and working out the kinks.
That’s what it is for the players, though. For us, it’s our Liverpool fix. We were deprived of it for about a month and a half and we’ve begun to go in withdrawals.
Full disclaimer: If preseason matches are frivolous, then spending the time to peruse into who may or may not start, in a match that will see 22 players represent the club, borders on obsessive-compulsive.
But that’s sports. We’ve taken this recreational entity and turned it into a multi-billion dollar conglomerate. We’ve taken its escapism reality and injected steroids into it. It’s still a getaway from real world oppression but it’s not like going for a jog either.
We love it. We want more from it. It gives us the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Think: Liverpool vs Dortmund at Anfield then Liverpool vs Sevilla for the Europa League final.
Preseason is fun to get lost in for an hour or two. So here’s who we want to see starting against Fleetwood Town on July 13, a month before a Premier League ball will be kicked by a Liverpool player.
