Go ahead, Loris. Take the no. 1 shirt and never, ever look back. When you meet Simon Mignolet whenever he returns to training, don’t be affable. Be mean, be territorial: be alpha. Because, damnit, you are.

There isn’t much doubt that the German will open the season as Liverpool’s starting keeper and it’d be great to see him glide through a preseason building confidence and comfortability in the puke green Liverpool keeper shirt.

It’s fun to see his name on the teamsheet. It’d also be quite horrific to see his name on the bench and Adam Bogdan’s name in goal, however meaningless it’d be. Perception is reality.
