That Liverpool red looks good on Matip, doesn’t it? Also, he fit right in with the calamitous defending that fans are accustomed to seeing in that red Liverpool shirt. It took him all of 28 seconds to clatter a Tranmere attacker for his first unofficial foul conceded.

Welcome aboard, Joel! Feels like you’ve been here for years.

Matip should get the start against Fleetwood which is great game practice for both he and Karius to become acclimated with each other’s tendencies and communication. As previously said, it’ll be interesting to see how his partnership with Lovren develops and if Sakho will even get the opportunity to crack it.
