With Skrtel on the outs, Liverpool’s captain is now the second longest serving player and he’s only been around for five years. I suppose that five years is a lot in modern football, but still. And when the transfer window closes there’s a pretty decent chance that he’ll have been here the longest.

Henderson came with a £20million price tag, because you know British, and expectations that came with it. He was nearly jettisoned a year later as makeweight in a deal to sign American Clint Dempsey but Hendo wanted to fight for his Liverpool career and he’s done just that.

The midfielder is a key part of the team and currently captain, taking the arm band off Steven Gerrard when he went to the MLS. Until this season, he’d made more than 30 appearances in the league every season since joining. He had a recurring heel issue for most of the season and looks to return to form next season.
