As Mamadou Sakho changes his kit from #17 to #3, we look back at the players who’ve worn the shirt for Liverpool in the Premier League era.

Despite Mamadou Sakho’s recent run in with Jurgen Klopp’s mean streak as the Frenchman’s been sent home from the Liverpool camp in America due to his attitude, the defender should still stick around long enough for this kit change to take effect in a real game.

Currently, Sakho is injured until September. But when he returns, he won’t be wearing the #17 that he’s worn the past few years, he’ll grab the vacant no. 3 shirt.

The number three usually signifies left back in conventional football wisdom and it proved mostly true as far as Liverpool’s Premier League history of players who’ve worn the number.

There’s more infamy than fame on this list, evident by Jose Enrique having the third most appearances by the nine players who’ve donned the kit.

As always, players are sorted from least appearances to most and all of the information comes courtesy of the brilliant folks at LFCHistory.net.
