9. Paul Konchesky /// 18 appearances /// 0 goals
Konchesky personifies Roy Hodgson’s horrific time in charge of Liverpool. He was the parrot who sat atop Hodgson’s shoulder and left the club not long after the manager did.
The fullback is like if you brought Walmart apparel to a fashion show. Like, sure, it serves a purpose and can be useful somewhere else, but certainly not here. He was decent at Fulham, not Liverpool.
Managers always love to bring one of their own to a new job, like Brendan Rodgers did with Joe Allen and would have with half of the Swansea starting XI had there not been a clause in his contract preventing him from doing so, but the jump in quality from Fulham to Liverpool was much too laborious of a leap for Hodgson, ditto for Konchesky.
Liverpool paid a total fee of £3.5million for him. That’s unfortunate that any money was given in exchange for his half season of service to the club. He made one appearance for Liverpool after Hodgson got the boot before he left on loan that was eventually made permanent.
