In one lone season at Liverpool, Ziege made 32 appearances in the no. 3 kit scoring two goals. Ziege came to Liverpool after winning titles at Bayern Munich and AC Milan and was meant to play left back for the club.

Ziege came to Liverpool with controversy, as Middlesbrough claimed that Liverpool illegally made an approach for the fullback. Then, just a season later, he was shipped off to Tottenham.
