4. John Scales /// 94 appearances /// 4 goals

Scales played two full seasons for Liverpool after beating them in the FA Cup final with Wimbledon. The defender was signed for £3.5million and made 94 appearances in two full seasons and a handful of games before leaving early on in his third.

The defender actually won a medal for high jump as a kid and was a sensible defender, though fans were skeptical if he had the requisite quality needed to play at Liverpool.

Scales moved on and played for Tottenham and Ipswich after leaving Liverpool before he retired after the 2000-01 season.
