Life is about recency, so most will remember Enrique’s poor form and living on the outskirts of the first team and seeing out his contract to stay on his wages that only Liverpool are contractually obliged to pay.

But Enrique was brought to the team on a cheap deal of £6million from Newcastle and made just one appearance shy of three digits for the club.

Enrique was at Liverpool for five years, but 78 of his 99 appearances came in his first two seasons and he made just three this season.
