Liverpool preseason/July squad rankings: Who’s king?
By Tom Bogert
5. Sadio Mane
Mane has looked really, really good this preseason.
A lot of fans met his steep price tag with feelings of trepidation of why he cost that much and if he was actually good enough to crack it for Liverpool. It’s one thing to carry an abundance of pace and lead the lines for Southampton where you’re used to playing worry free as you’ll always have your place in the team rather than coming to Liverpool where it’ll be much more competitive just to get on the field. Just ask Lallana.
But throughout preseason, Mane has flashed that blistering pace as well as technical ability to go with it. He combined with Firmino well, forming the nascent stages of a formidable bond in the attacking third with someone who’ll be a regular.
