Liverpool preseason/July squad rankings: Who’s king?
By Tom Bogert
13. Danny Ings
Thanks to his availability from the jump for preseason with all of the other European Reds getting their well deserved breaks, Ings was the man leading the team from day one. The Englishman morphed into Liverpool’s talisman during the preseason and has been performing well, pushing those ahead of him for playing time.
Ings became something of a folklore after his injury. He’s perfect for Klopp and fans lamented fate for taking the player away from the new manager in his first training session. His assiduous work rate, pace and finishing ability render him a player Klopp might have created in a German lab.
Fans grew visceral opinions of how great he’d be under Klopp, and expectations are mixed for Ings as it’s unclear how many games he’ll be able to get.
If he’s finishing chances at the rate he is this preseason, it’ll be difficult to keep him off the teamsheet. Ings is a brilliant rotation option for the club.
