Liverpool preseason/July squad rankings: Who’s king?
By Tom Bogert
12. Jordan Henderson
Captain Henderson lands outside the top ten after his stock took a hit last season through injuries plus with all the new additions, he needs to prove his fitness and form again with the likes o Can, Gini Wijnaldum, Milner and others in the midfield.
But how quickly fans forget. Remember when Liverpool’s title run capitulated in 2013/14? That coincided when Henderson picked up a three game suspension. Not a coincidence.
Whoever is selling their Jordan Henderson stock, I’m buying it all. I’m still firmly on his bandwagon. He’s a quality player and a good leader.
With all of the attacking options in the team, though, Henderson will be asked to do his work deeper than he’s accustomed to and it’ll be interesting to see how he adapts if he’s forced to.
Next: 11. Loris Karius
