Liverpool preseason/July squad rankings: Who’s king?
By Tom Bogert
8. Joel Matip
Matip’s first act as a Liverpool player was to unnecessarily sprint out of defense and clatter a player going nowhere on the sidelines for a foul. 28 seconds into his debut.
It’s like he was here for years!
Matip currently has a little niggle of injury but he should be fine by Liverpool’s next round of games this weekend against Barcelona and Mainz, whichever one Klopp sees fit he plays in.
The Cameroonian has partnered Lovren well throughout the preseason and will likely be the pair that starts at The Emirates on opening day of the Premier League season for Liverpool.
Next: 7. Divock Origi
