Last season at this time, it was no question that Sturridge was Liverpool’s top striker. The club was uber reliant on him since Luis Suarez left and unfortuantely he hasn’t been available nearly enough.

This season, there are questions if Origi is going to take starts away from Sturridge and Danny Ings is waiting for opportunities as well. Not to mention that Christian Benteke is still actually a Liverpool player.

But Sturridge’s pedigree means he should have the nod on opening day. On his day, no striker at the club can match him and he should be given that chance straight out of the gates next season.
