GK Simon Mignolet

This should be Loris Karius, not Mignolet. Life isn’t fair.

Karius, as everyone knows, broke his hand on Dejan Lovren’s face. Lovren is okay, Karius, is not. At least his face is.

For 8-10 weeks Liverpool are stuck with Mignolet. The last time Liverpool played Arsenal, Mignolet gifted them a point by being at fault for both goals in a 2-2 draw. He ruined a fantastic Roberto Firmino performance by allowing Aaron Ramsey to squeak a shot past him at the near post, because he has no idea where to position himself, then essentially allowing a corner in direct with a slight deflection off Giroud.

This season will be different. Liverpool finished so far off the pace that it didn’t matter in the end. Especially right from the jump in 2016/17, every point is precious. It’s more competitive than ever at the top of the league with all the world class managers and squads stuffed with top quality players.
