Liverpool play Burnley in their second match of the 2016/17 season, hoping to build on a big first win against Arsenal

Personally, I think this game against Burnley is going to be just as informative as the opening fixture against Arsenal. Liverpool made a winning start last Sunday, but now it’s time to see whether we’ll do our typical trick of losing to a weaker team.

For some reason, Liverpool seem to enjoy messing with our hopes and expectations. Surely after scoring four goals away against Arsenal, Burnley should be a game we can go and dominate? Well, I wouldn’t get too confident, because you should know how often we like to throw this kind of game.

The fact are rather simple. Liverpool need to be winning these games against newly promoted teams if they have any hope of finishing higher up the table this season.

With how promising our attacking play looked in the dominating spells against Arsenal, I certainly expect us to score some goals. Burnley however won’t simply roll to the side and take a beating. Following their 1-0 loss against Swansea on the opening weekend, the newly promoted side need to bag some points in order to get their season moving in the right direction.

A major loss for the Liverpool team is Sadio Mane, who picked up an injury in training. The Daily Mirror posted the following quote from Jurgen Klopp’s pre-match press conference.

"“It was a challenge between two players in the air and Sadio fell on his shoulder. It’s not that serious.” “At this stage I don’t know if he will be available for the weekend but I don’t think he will be out for a long time.”"

While Mane might be out for a short while, surely Liverpool have the depth to dispose of this Burnley side?

Here’s how we predict Liverpool will line-up on Saturday.
