James Milner – 5.5

James Milner at left-back is weird for several obvious reasons. Defensively, he didn’t really have much chance to prevent anything. He pushed with the attack, leaving the centre-backs and Henderson to struggle, and therefore couldn’t exactly defend the counter. Perhaps Moreno’s pace could have helped him track back quicker?

On the attack Milner did manage to keep possession and work the ball slightly, but being weaker on his left foot really hindered his effectiveness.
