Liverpool play out a frenetic 90 minutes at White Hart Lane that ended with a 1-1 draw against Tottenham despite Klopp’s men controlling the match at times.
This most obvious takeaway from Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham is that the mood would’ve felt a whole lot better had the boys from Merseyside not just lost to Burnley in an anemic, toothless display a week prior.
Without considering the 2-0 loss at Turf Moor, Liverpool would have felt pretty good about four points out of a possible six from matches in North London against Arsenal and Tottenham. Even if it felt like they should have had two wins rather than a win and a draw.
But the result against Burnley adds negative context to the draw with Tottenham, especially with how they were unable to put Spurs away despite creating the requisite amount of chances.
They can feel wronged, especially with Sadio Mane’s goal being ruled out highly questionable for an offside call on Adam Lallana. From the second the referee called the goal back, Tottenham were the better side and an equalizer felt all too inevitable.
Inevitable it was as Danny Rose cancelled out a James Milner penalty and both clubs split the points.
At any rate, here’s who was best, and who was worst for Liverpool at White Hart Lane.
GK Simon Mignolet: 7
A solid display from Mignolet with a pair of adequate saves on tight angled free kicks as well as a brilliant save off a corner kick. You don’t hear those last words often.
This may have been Mignolet’s last start for Liverpool in a while with Loris Karius nearing full health for real matches and not just training sessions. If Karius can achieve his health, it’s likely he’ll step right in for the Belgian.
