DM Jordan Henderson: 7

It’s funny, these are the games that fans seem to forget when they shoot arrows at Henderson and beg for Klopp to sell him or replace him.

Henderson led well, ran fantastically as always and did a job of controlling the game for a majority of the day. He does better with someone like Emre Can behind him giving him license to get forward more, but he did the job for the team.

CM Gini Wijnaldum: 5

Before Liverpool’s kicked off their league campaign, I would’ve been borderline shocked to hear that the former Newcastle man would go on to start their first three mathces. I knew Klopp rated him but I figured with all the other players in the team that he wouldn’t have played all three.

Granted this is buoyed by Emre Can being hurt, but Wijnaldum hasn’t done all that much to warrant a spot in the first XI when Liverpool return from the international break. He was ‘meh, okay’ today and rather anonymous– again. Still finding his feet at the club.

CM Adam Lallana (OFF 90+4): 7

I’m a huge fan of Lallana in this slightly deeper role. It’s perfect for him. He has more space to operate and he presses brilliantly.

When Lallana plays in the no. 10, it’s easy to slate him for a less than desirable goal return. Life is all about context and managing expectations, thus when he’s deeper he’s less expected to output goals or assists. With the likes of Mane, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho ahead of him, he really needs not worry too much. He’s been fantastic here.
