Liverpool player ratings: 1-1 Tottenham
By Tom Bogert
RW Sadio Mane (OFF 88′): 7
*whispers* Mane may have been lucky to have stayed on the pitch. He had three challenges that could’ve been soft yellow cards and he picked up one, thankfully.
Outside of that, and he seemed to dull a bit after a real scare that he was going off, he was silk again. His pace is illustrious and is fitting perfectly with Liverpool.
ST Roberto Firmino: 8 (MoM)
A slight nod for Man of the Match over Matip and Milner, Firmino quietly led the lines for Liverpool. He should’ve had an assist to Coutinho early in the game (more on that in a second…), was brought down for Milner penalty and just popped up all over the place with quality play.
Maybe when Can returns he can drop into attacking midfield against in a 4-2-3-1 to get him on the pitch with Sturridge.
LW Philippe Coutinho (OFF 69′): 6
The match against Tottenham was one of those days for Coutinho where it could’ve been the kind of match winning performance like he had against Arsenal but it didn’t quite fall for him. On the aforementioned chance from a Firmino pass in which his shot was thwarted by Vorm, that goes in if it’s a foot closer to the post or a foot higher.
These are the days that he’ll fix which will take him into the upper echelon of players in the world.
