LB James Milner

It’s time for me to embrace James Milner as a fullback.

Every week in this space I’ve written something to the effect of why Moreno should start and blah, blah, blah. Milner has been impressive in this role. Because of course he has, he’s James Milner.

The Englishman gets a foreign position and it looks like he gets it because he’s a total footballer with a brain. He must be an absolute joy to manage.

Milner’s presence on the pitch is very useful no matter where it is. He may struggle against Willian  and his pace, but, that would’ve been conventional wisdom for Milner against Riyad Mahrez and it’s still unconfirmed that Mahrez even played against Liverpool, that’s how anonymous he was.
