LB James Milner

I, like many others, were skeptical of the Milner left back experiment this preseason.

I, as I’d imagine many others, also said #InKloppWeTrust so I was content to see it play out.

And, man, has Jimmy Milner been awesome at fullback.

I’ve said it a lot, but I’m not sure it can be said enough: HE’S NEVER PLAYED FULLBACK BEFORE. He’s a right footed player on the left side, more heavily right footed than I think we were aware of. Again, for emphasis, HE’S NEVER PLAYED FULLBACK BEFORE. For all of those reasons, this should’ve been a disaster.

But it hasn’t been, Milner surely can’t get enough credit for this phenomenon. Two goals from the penalty spot last week against Hull takes his tally up to three this season, maybe he’ll be on the scoresheet again vs. the Swans.
