GK Simon Mignolet

Mignolet had already much outgrown his equity at the club but nothing was done in the summer prior to rectify the goalkeeping situation, so Klopp was stuck.

Well, we all thought he was stuck. That’s not how he feels about the Belgian, though.

At every turn Klopp would defend the ridiculed keeper and even handed him a new 5 year contract. He’d strengthen the position this summer with Loris Karius, but still is yet to say that Mignolet is the back up.

One for the ‘what the f–k’ category of the history books: Simon Mignolet kept a clean sheet in Jurgen Klopp’s first game away to Tottenham, a free scoring side who’d finish third in the league.
