Smalling is a player who has the chance to grow into a top defender in the Premier League and for England. He has all the psychical tools and has improved every season since he arrived at United.

He, too, beats out Blind and Lovren.

I’m shocked to see that Blind is still being used in the center of defense. When he was brought to United, he was a ball playing defensive mid and a bit heavy footed left back seemingly being misused. Then he was tossed to be a center back and apparently it’s stuck.
