Liverpool drew Manchester United 0-0 in the Premier League. Here’s how Jurgen Klopp’s men got on. Player ratings.

After a long International break then an excruciating weekend awaiting Liverpool and Manchester United until Monday night, it was a game that didn’t live up to the billing as Liverpool drew Manchester United 0-0 the first scoreless draw in 11 years in this fixture.

#TheMourinhoEffect

The team news was as expected: Jurgen Klopp went attacking, Jose Mourinho went defensive. Shocker.

Despite the attacking midfield, the first 45 went as other North West derbies had gone: dodgy and filled with tackles. United were rigid, but didn’t sit back too far, making it difficult for Liverpool’s attack to generate any steam.

On the other side of the ball, United were unable to create anything throughout the first 45 as well.

It was more of the same for the second half, but Liverpool totally had control of the match. United didn’t threaten to attack nor did they much want to.

Manager Jurgen Klopp: 8

The difference in personality between the two managers was such that the tactics behind the starting lineups was an easy phenomenon to prognosticate. United seemed set up for set pieces and counters.

He sprinted from the touchline to the locker room– I can only imagine what was going through his mind. Oh how I’d love to be a fly on the wall for the halftime talk.

Didn’t wait too long to flip the script and take Sturridge out for Lallana.

Klopp did all he could, but sometime it’s just not to be.
