Danny Ings

I understand the consternation arriving at the third striker I’ve tipped that ‘must start’ against Tottenham, but, it’s just how the roster has broken down at this point.

The case for all three is that they’re fluid enough to be split wide. Origi played as a winger a lot at Lille, operated there at times for Liverpool and Ings is good enough to play wide and that unfortunately seems like the only way he gets into the team here.

But Ings deserves it. Too bad he was one of the injured players last year, and that it’s permeated this year for him as well. Had he not been injured and got to benefit from other injuries like Origi did, the narrative could’ve been different.

Now, he’s the third striker on a team that uses an attacking mid as a lone center forward. He’s looking a far way at playing time, especially without European football.

Ings still has a role in the team. Klopp rejected bids for him this summer and rates him as highly as £20million.

This is a game he’s got to start if he’s truly got a role in the team.
