Solving the left back crisis at Liverpool; 5 alternatives to James Milner
By August Prum
Ricardo Rodriguez
Rodriguez, the Swiss-Chilean left back for Wolfsburg, is a dynamic offensive player with a killer left boot.
A set-piece specialist and a bomber going forward, Rodriguez would be an intriguing addition to Klopp’s squad, while not necessarily the most ‘defensive’ option.
The 24-year-old was subject to rumours linking him to Arsenal, Manchester City, and Barcelona in the summer at a reported €25 million fee, but no move ever came to fruition.
Rodriguez is a top-class player, saying he thinks he’s worth more than the reported €25 million.
"“I don’t think €25m is too much for me. I’m only 24 and I already have more than four years of experience as a regular in the Bundesliga and the national team, and over €40m has been spent on players with less going for them”"
Rodriguez has seen his value drop slightly this season, a look at his market value development chart on Transfermarkt shows a dip.
Wolfsburg currently sit in 14th place in the Bundesliga with brutally poor form.
Perhaps Rodriguez needs a change of surroundings to bring the best out of him.
With other clubs shying away, now may be the perfect time to pounce.
