Central defensive midfielder – Jordan Henderson

Against Southampton Henderson reminded me of Steven Gerrard at times. I hate comparing the two, it’s unfair and unrealistic, but I saw similarities. Gerrard, when playing deep, dropped back in between the two central defenders to play from the back. When Southampton sat back, Henderson sat between Matip and Lovren doing exactly the same type of thing. This isn’t ‘HE’S THE NEXT GERRARD WHAT A GUY’, it’s more of a nice reflection that I feel works well.

Henderson has stepped up to be a key midfield figure, and our captain remains influential.
