Liverpool fans have endured the roller-coaster ride that is Simon Mignolet this season. There is much speculation that Klopp will bring in a new goalkeeper this summer, or will he?
According to a report by the Telegraph, Jurgen Klopp is not seeking to bring in a new keeper this summer to replace Mignolet or Karius. There has been a lot of criticism of Klopp for being inactive during the January transfer window and for sticking with failing keepers too long.
Simon Mignolet began the season as Liverpool’s first-choice between the posts, but then after Karius impressed Klopp in the 3-0 win against Derby County, he got the node to start. Karius began well in the Premier League but after 6 or 7 matches the train veered off the rails. It ended in the horrible 4-3 loss against Bournemouth and ugly 2-2 draw against West Ham. Let’s try to forget those days…
A Busy Summer, Not For A Keeper
The Telegraph says, “Mignolet remains Klopp’s first choice.” This is good news for the Belgian international who recently has seen some amazing saves against top-flight competition. Reds fans will remember this heroic effort against Diego Costa in January:

Mignolet is good, when he is good, and really bad when he is bad. Klopp and his team are going to be busy with FSG’s money this summer. Again, the Telegraph reports that Liverpool are looking to add six new players, but one of those will not be a keeper.
Klopp had this to say about his keepers, “We have these really, really good goalkeepers. It is the life of a goalkeeper that you are the last man standing. Then you are not too happy but I am happy with our goalkeepers, yes.”
OPEN YOUR EYES JURGEN! If Klopp looks around the Premier League and Europe, one key to success is having confidence in the man you put between the posts. Mignolet is not one to boast about in my opinion. It would be great of Liverpool to bring in a top-flight keeper to hold down the fort as the Reds make a strong push for the Premier League title and go deep in European competition, next season. Mignolet and Karius will simply not cut it.

The Reds want to make their side stronger over the summer and it looks like right now, a match-changing keeper is off the table for discussion. But I think as the season goes on Klopp may come around to the idea of adding a quality keeper, it will be interesting to watch.
