Second Half

Liverpool are off to a good start in the second half. Emre Can pushing forward and pops one inside but its blocked by Williams. Excellent job Can!

OH NO! Baines runs into Mane. Looks like a twisted ankle. I sure hope he is okay.

This does not look good, Mane looks uncomfortable.

Bad news for the Reds, after trying to walk off the pitch Mane falls down in pain.

Liverpool continue to play with a man down, waiting for Origi to come on for Mane. This is puts Liverpool in a tough place with Henderson, Lallana, and now Mane out. The depth of Klopp’s side is diminishing quickly.

In minute 58, Milner with some great defending by sliding in front of a shot, blocking it to keep Liverpool in the lead.

Holgate gives it away to Coutinho who finds Origi in space and slings it into the net beautifully. Everton are helpless.

This is exactly what Klopp wanted in this match, passion, goals, pressing, and a strong defense.

In minute 62, Williams gets a yellow for sliding into Can. He is definitely going for the player there.

Can is down looking like he is in a lot of pain. This would be the second injury to a Liverpool player today by a Toffee, this is complete trash!

Looks like Can wants to stay on. I hope he is alright and doesn’t make any poor decisions to overcompensating for his injury.

Well, Can with a yellow for no good reason other than the refs want to crush Can’s spirit. Can has been stomped on and slide into all match and this is what he gets. Booooo refs!

Alexander-Arnold on for Coutinho. Coutinho played some magical football in the first half, but his legs are likely very tired due to his recent two matches with the Brazil over the international break.

Now, with all of the chaos on the Liverpool side, Everton are taking advantage of Liverpool being off guard and sloppy. Everton are pressing up and trying to create some magic.

Lovren and Matip have been solid in defense today. If only they could be this consistent every match. They have kept Lukaku silent, essentially eliminating him from most chances.

Alexander-Arnold  is playing very well in his early minutes on the pitch. It is great to see his maturity. Then, Arnold fires a laser of a shot, but is easily saved. That would have been beautiful. You can tell that Arnold really loves it out there, his energy has been great!

It is a different year for Everton but I don’t think that it is different enough.

At the very end Lukaku becomes a little more active, but can not overcome the Reds defense. Everton just looking sloppy.

Full Time: Conclusion

Liverpool come away with three points at home looked in a good way today. Klopp must be elated with the performance of his side. The Reds slide up to 3rd in the table with 59 points, just behind Spurs. Klopp’s side may not stay there for long but if they keep up performances like this, it will be difficult for Liverpool to lose out on a Champions League spot for next season! Great match!
