So far this list has consisted of attacking players, but Joel Matip has been the go-to-guy for Klopp when it comes to strong defense. Matip came to Liverpool on a free transfer from Schalke 04 in the summer of 2016.

Matip could be higher on this list if not for his lack of appearances due to injury this season. This season, Matip has made just 23 appearances, but in those appearances he has been phenomenal.
