James Milner

The former Manchester City midfielder switched to Liverpool in 2015. Klopp saw potential in the England-born footballer, so much potential that he convinced James Milner to switch left-back. Early on this season fans were skeptical of Milner’s abilities as a left-back. But as the season progressed, Milner has really flourished in the position.

Milner has made 30 Premier League appearances, scoring 7 goals, all from penalties! This simple statistic alone merits the Reds left-back to be on this list. In addition, Milner has been the decent but not great in defense. Thankfully, only one defensive error by Milner led to an opponents goal.

Klopp views Milner as a key to the attack, pushing the ball up the pitch on the wings and crossing the ball in to Firmino, Coutinho, and Mane. Like so many others, Milner’s best match came against Sunderland in November. In this match, Milner scored off a penality in the 91st minute. Also, the Reds defender went crosses-crazy, feeding 12 key crosses into the box.

James Milner is a force to be reckon with and may climb up this list by seasons end.
