Liverpool transfer profile: Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech
By David Gate
The latest transfer rumor for Liverpool FC is Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech. We have a transfer profile for you to get to know the latest target:
Reports from Morocco, repeated in the British media, are saying Liverpool are in advanced talks for Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech. The fee being quoted is around £18 million. Interestingly it is another left footed attacking player. Emre Mor has also been on the radar. With Mane and Salah able to cover the right side it looks like Klopp wants another option on the left with Mane. Firmino is now primarily a central player. Coutinho will either be in a deeper role or at Barcelona depending how optimistic/pessimistic you are. Here is a transfer profile of the latest rumor:
Physical Attributes:
The first thing you notic about him physically is his agility. His movements and flexibility really stand out. Ziyech is also a quick player. Able to turn and use pace to his advantage. However is relies more on his technical gifts than his speed to beat players. He is looks light for his height. The stats have him at 5’11 and 148lbs. The video does not show him lacking for strength but you wonder if he will need to add a little bulk to compete in Premier League.
Technical Attributes:
A fantastic left foot. He is a dead ball specialist and can manipulate the ball with ease. His movement with the ball reminds me of Neymar. Skill and speed in fluid harmony. His ability with the ball is not just show-pony party tricks. There is real production too. Last year he bagged 12 goals and 20 assists in his 46 appearances. Notable production even in the Eredivisie.
Mental Attributes:
At Ajax he has the freedom to be a creative attacking player. New Blue Davy Klaasen handled most of Ajax’s defensive midfield duties. Nobody at Liverpool has that license under Jürgen Klopp. Every single player needs to work and press for the team. This would be a change for him but one he could make. He is a player in constant movement looking for the ball and is very competitive. If he can channel that into defensive work he will be a very good addition to the squad.
