Philippe Coutinho: The case for and against selling him to Barcelona

The Case For & Against Selling Coutinho: Verdict
I think the verdict has to be we should not sell him. I think doing so would cast a deep depression over the season; one I’m not sure our squad is capable of rising above. The Watford result reminded us of our failings. We have to improve and strengthen. It is not the moment for more transition and reshaping.
This has been another summer of transfer frustration. A broken record of transfer window disappointment. For whatever reason the club cannot seem to get the big deals done. They have struggled to land Klopp’s favored targets. Often alienating other clubs in the process. Many teams don’t even want to listen our offers anymore.
These stumbles in the transfer market have strained relationships between FSG and the fans. Selling Philippe Coutinho would push many of our fanbase into the ‘FSG out’ camp. We have been through fan wars before – Rafa’s last season springs to mind. The bitching and blaming within the fans hurts everyone. It sours everything at the club.
We need to reject Barcelona out of hand. We need to sit down with the player and tell him that he can leave next year. But this season we need him and we need him playing well. Keep the Brazilian, sign up Emre Can, get a center back and a midfielder. Then we can have some positivity and a good go at the league title. Up the Reds!
