PSG look willing to transfer their German playmaker Julian Draxler. If he is available then Liverpool need to be in the negotiations.

After the blockbuster transfer of Neymar from Barcelona it appears that PSG are willing to sell some of their assets. Players such as Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier were already known to be available for the right price. Now it looks like German creative midfielder Julian Draxler is available. If that is true, Liverpool should be all over that transfer.

The Parisians need to make room for Neymar, both on the pitch and on the balance sheet. The initial talk regarding Draxler is that he could be included in a package to Arsenal if PSG make their likely move for Gunner’s striker Alexis Sanchez.

If he is willing to think about Arsenal then he we surely be interested in Anfield too. We have two trump cards for the German. We have Champions League football, if we can get a result against Hoffenheim at home. Secondly we have Jürgen Klopp, who is one of the best coaches in the world for developing players and the German’s countryman. Wenger or Klopp isn’t really a choice right now.

Draxler was captain of the second team German side that won the Confederation Cup this summer alongside Emre Can. He was named player of the tournament. His talent is immense and he will want to make sure he can force his way into Joachim Löw’s first team plans in a World Cup year. Perhaps his purchase will help convince Emre Can of the club’s ambition and he can sign his new contract.

There are those who say ‘but where will he play?’. That is the least of our worries. He is certainly an upgrade on Lallana. Perhaps Coutinho leaves this summer and we don’t have to worry about a replacement. We already have 3 or 4 first team injuries. Not being able to fit all your great players in the first team is a problem we don’t have. But I bet it is one that Klopp would love to wrestle with at Liverpool.
